It starts with the room, because the room decides most of the cost. Then it walks through eight elements, one at a time. You can mark any of them as not required, and plenty of good rooms do.

How the figure is worked out.
Every option carries a real price taken from the same component pricing we quote from. Your room size then scales the elements that genuinely scale with it, and leaves alone the ones that do not.
Acoustic treatment, speaker count, cabling and joinery all grow with floor area and wall surface, so those move with the room. A control system does not: one room needs one system whether it is 11 square metres or 40. Treating both the same way is how online estimates end up wrong in both directions at once.
The result is a figure that should sit in the right band for a straightforward room, and a breakdown that shows you which elements are carrying the cost. If one line looks larger than you expected, that is usually the most useful thing on the page.

The figure covers the AV system, acoustic treatment, control, installation and calibration. It does not include structural building works, decoration, or furniture beyond cinema seating. On a new build or renovation those building works sit with your main contractor, and we coordinate around the first and second fix.

Most UK home cinema projects fall into three bands. The calculator exists to place your particular room inside one of them, rather than leaving you holding the range.

- A living-room upgrade or compact dedicated space: a quality 5.1 system, a large 4K TV, smart lighting and essential acoustic treatment.
- Mid-range bespoke £25,000 to £50,000
- A dedicated room with 7.1 surround, laser projection or a 98 inch TV, full lighting control, comprehensive treatment and an integrated control system.
- High-performance £60,000 to £100,000+

What it cannot see is your building: ceiling height, structure, access, existing wiring and how much natural light the room takes. Those are the things that move a real project, which is why a written quotation follows a survey rather than a form.

- Because the room dictates everything. Size and proportion decide how big the screen has to be, how many speakers the layout needs, how much acoustic treatment the surfaces require and how much joinery goes in. Some elements scale with the room and some do not, so the calculator scales only the ones that genuinely do. Two homes can both want a home cinema and land tens of thousands apart on the room alone.
