Media wall price UK: what one actually costs.
You can spend £1,500 on a media wall or £15,000, and from a photo they can look much the same. The difference is almost all in the parts you can't see. Here's what the money buys, and what a suspiciously cheap quote tends to skip.
The two ways we build them.
The Luxe wall
A floating wall you configure: size, TV, finish, fabric, audio, lighting. Most land at £3,500 to £5,500 with the upgrades people actually want. Includes VAT and a one-day install.
Designed to the room
Wall-spanning, recessed, mixed materials, projection, proper surround. Designed alongside your architect or interior designer and quoted per project after a site visit.
Want a figure for your own wall? The configurator gives an indicative price in a minute. The full media walls page shows both routes side by side.
Where the money goes.
Roughly in this order of "things people forget to budget for".
The joinery
The visible part: the floating or recessed wall, the finish, the niches and shelving. The bit everyone quotes for.
Hidden audio
In-wall speakers behind acoustic fabric, a concealed subwoofer position, cavity depth designed for the system. Not an afterthought screwed on later.
Cable and ventilation
Every run hidden inside the wall, and active or passive ventilation so the TV and kit don't overheat and age early. The unglamorous part that decides whether it lasts.
Lighting and control
RGBW ambient lighting and one app, keypad or voice to run the lot. The difference between a feature wall and an integrated one.
The cheap-quote trap.
If one quote is half the others, it isn't usually a bargain. It's a different job. Nine times out of ten the cheap one is the joinery and nothing else: no hidden speakers, no ventilation, cables you'll see, a TV bracket where integrated control should be.
That's fine if a tidy box is all you want. Just know that's what you're comparing, so you're not surprised when the £1,800 wall and the £4,500 wall turn out to be different things wearing the same photo.
Quick answers.
- How much does a media wall cost in the UK?
- Our configurable Luxe media wall starts at £2,600 for a 2m by 1.8m wall without audio, and most land between £3,500 and £5,500 once audio, lighting and finish upgrades go in. Fully bespoke walls, the wall-spanning, projection, surround-sound sort, start around £6,000 and run to £15,000 and beyond depending on scope. All of that includes VAT and installation. The TV is usually supplied separately.
- Why are some media walls so much cheaper?
- Because they're joinery, not integration. A joiner can build a handsome box with a hole for a TV for not very much. What's missing is the part you don't see: the cable runs, the hidden speakers, the ventilation that stops the TV cooking itself, the lighting control. Those are the bits that make it work as a room and last, and they're the first things a cheap quote leaves out.
- Is the TV included in the media wall price?
- Usually not, and that's deliberate. You'll often get a TV cheaper on the high street than we can supply it, so we specify the right size for your viewing distance and let you buy it, or source it for you if you'd rather. Either way the wall is designed around the screen, not the other way round.
- What makes a media wall worth the money?
- A media wall done properly hides every cable, conceals real audio behind the fabric, ventilates the kit so it lasts, and integrates the lighting, all in a piece of joinery that looks built-in rather than bolted on. The gap between that and a TV on a bracket is the same as the gap between a fitted kitchen and a freestanding cupboard. Both hold a TV. Only one is a room.
